About Society Education Media

Video is changing the world. The need for visually engaging educational content has never been more urgent. Never before has a video library encompassing nearly every facet of America’s juvenile justice and social justice landscape been offered on a user-friendly platform for educators across the spectrum. Until now.

SOCIETY EDUCATION MEDIA gives students and educators across the spectrum access to the closed world of juvenile justice and social work so that they may deeply understand the youth they will serve and the lives that are at stake.

  • Enhance Your Class.  Give students and young professionals a window into juvenile justice and child welfare court practices and proceedings.
  • Stream on Demand.  Content is organized in easy-to-navigate categories so you can find what you’re looking for and enjoy on our smooth and reliable video player on desktop or mobile web browsers.
  • Drive Awareness.  Policies get reformed when victims of injustice are humanized. Society Education Media videos allow viewers to hear the voices, see the faces and feel the experiences of children in the juvenile justice and child welfare systems.
  • Access the Industry’s Best.  Society Education Media features unprecedented video content from Emmy award-winning Calamari Productions -- the only company in the U.S. with legal access to take cameras inside the closed arenas of juvenile courts, prisons and child welfare systems.

The video content on SOCIETY EDUCATION MEDIA has proved to be compelling to students across academic disciplines: from Schools of Social Work, Criminal Justice and Law, to Journalism, Psychology and Schools of Nursing. Over the past two decades, our content has also led to passage of new laws aimed at more humane treatment of children and families ensnared in these systems.

On a final note, we have been immensely grateful to do this important work over the past two decades. The stories we’ve produced and the kids and families we’ve met along the way have been life changing in every imaginable way. It therefore pains us to require a subscription/rental fee for this platform.

For many years we fulfilled individual requests for DVD’s and video links free of charge. But to execute an endeavor of this size and scope, offer streaming video anywhere, anytime on any device, and continue to film, produce and release all-new stories and content on a regular basis in order to truly effect change, a financial mechanism to do so was the only way to make this happen. We hope to bring more freemium content to this platform in the weeks and months ahead, and of course, would love to hear from you if we can assist you in any way.

A portion of the proceeds from Society Education Media is donated to organizations working directly with system-involved youth and families.
